Sansai (山菜) began as a side project during a deployment to the Falklands. Built on its predecessor, Ferret Radio, it aimed to share easygoing tunes globally. By mid-2022, Sansai had four active DJs and over 2,000 songs. In 2023 it had to shut down due to a cease and desist, but now it's back and legal!

Named after wild mountain vegetables, the station is rooted in that same spirit. Sansai is no longer a pirate radio, and its focus has been refined into what you see here. The site is a living project, so expect things to shift and grow like the seasons. Enjoy the music.

1. What we collect
Sansai collects a small amount of data for security reasons. When you connect, your IP is temporarily held in the server's RAM strictly for ratelimiting to prevent spam or DDoS attacks. Sansai doesn't use any trackers, analytics, or cookies.

2. Local Storage
Your browser's Local Storage is used when setting a username in Global Chat to remember your input. This doesn't leave your device and isn't for anything else.

3. Third-Party Players
Sansai uses Twitch to broadcast live DJs and YouTube for our 24/7 rotation. These are embedded players from their respective platforms, so may collect your IP address, set their own cookies, or track your viewing habits according to their own privacy policies.

4. Form Submissions
The "Suggest" and "Contact" pages use embedded Google Forms. Any information you submit through these is being processed through Google's infrastructure. On our end, we only see a timestamp and whatever you entered into the fields and no other data.

5. Global Chat & Guestbook
Anything you send to the website via Global Chat or Guestbook is public and sent to a temporary database (no identifiable data is stored). By submitting messages, you consent to it being public. Don't share any personal information.

6. Data Removal
Since we don't use trackers, Global Chat and Guestbook logs are not linked back to you. However, if you need something removed, please use the Contact form.
